All settled in!

So behind this unassuming door lies my new workshop.....I’ve taken a few pictures to give you a sneak peek!

It’s been a hectic few weeks with the move out of my little shop on the river into my new workshop and it’s been truly amazing to see how much stuff I had managed to squeeze into such a tiny space over the course of three years....that shop definitely has tardis qualities! So after a big sort out, while trying very hard to keep minimalism in mind, I’m finally in!!

+++++

One of the main things that I wanted to have space for in my new workshop was a proper desk space where I can draw and design, edit photos, do all my admin and catch up on emails......but not just somewhere functional, I wanted it to be somewhere that I enjoyed working with a more feminine feel.....and who doesn’t love a gratuitous fairy light? (Inspirational messages curtesy of my daughter :)....)

+++++

Having room for plenty of storage now is wonderful too! I’m keeping all of the jewellery stands that I had in the shop as they’ll be needed when I do some shows out and about around the country but in the meantime everything‘s neatly shelved.

+++++

The most important aspect of the workshop is of course my jewellery bench and where to put it, so for natural light I’ve got it under a north facing window. Yesterday, I got the last few hand tools out and put them in their rightful places and although it looks cluttered I know where everything is. Must sort out my box of burrs though!

+++++

On a sunny day the view from the window is lovely with the water running past! As you can see I’m still on the river and sometimes you can see some passing ducks and ducklings....I’m told that there are trout in the river but I’m still yet to catch sight of one.

+++++

So I’m looking forward to cracking on at the bench now, producing some new work and getting some more shows booked.....

Also look out for me at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September, I’ll be demonstrating in the main exhibition space as part of the Hatch 19 Open Studios. As a taster I’ll be offering an opportunity for you to try your hand at different ways of texturing metal and carving the wax used for lost wax casting. I may even shamelessly encourage you to book onto one of our soon to be announced jewellery courses! Come and say hello!

Thanks for reading! See you soon! x
